I've finally caught up to the end of June with my photo editing. I want to review my keepers for another week or two and then send them off to get printed. And then edit that pile of photos.
This will be my last post for a while. On Monday I am going to Seoul for four days to have a hotel staycation. I'll probably make a few pictures, but it will be too hot and humid or pissing down rain or all at the same time for much of that. I'm not sure what camera to take. Maybe the Minolta X-700? It's light and that's important for miserable summer days. I could take the Nikon F6 or the D850 for higher quality, but I'm not sure it's worth it. I'm tempted to just use my phone, but it's old and I sometimes have to smack it against my leg to get it to focus. So that's probably not a good idea.
See you in August!
[Edit: I've more or less decided on the F6 with black and white film]
That's a nice shot to leave us with. Enjoy your trip. An F6 loaded with B&W film? - can't go wrong!
ReplyDeleteAlas, went wrong. I'm going to write a post about it soon, but Seoul's summer heat and humidity made lugging around a heavy camera difficult. I'd been moaning to all and sundry about not enjoying the weight of my cameras when out and about for walks, but on my first day in Seoul, after using just half a roll of film, I went to a Nikon dealer and bought myself a Nikon Z50II. I don't feel the weight at all and the pictures look good straight out of the camera. If I don't screw up.
DeleteI get it. Small & light has its attractions. I started reading the specs for the Z50II but it scared me :)
DeleteEnjoy! Look forward to seeing the shots.
Ha, yeah. The instruction manual is intimidating. I mostly use it to find out how to turn things off. :) It's brilliant for walkaround photography and pictures of my cats because I can set it to auto mode and the snapshots come out looking great. I brought it out a couple of weeks ago for 'serious' photography and it didn't do much for me. The image quality is very good, but, I don't know, the feel of the camera didn't put me in the right frame of mind for carefully considered pictures.
DeleteI set up a separate blog for personal things but setting the blog to Private caused a lot of problems so I made it public. There's nothing very personal in my travelogue anyway, so it was a waste of time. I'm thinking about importing it into this blog. In the meantime, you can see it at https://marcusonly.blogspot.com/2025/08/seoul-trip-summer-2025.html
Loved your travel blog post!
ReplyDeleteThanks very much!
